Swimming Canada Takes First Steps in its Sustainability Journey with Racing to Zero

Swimming Canada and Racing to Zero have teamed up to help develop a clear path towards environmental sustainability and lay the foundations for long-term climate action. With support from the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC), the national governing body for swimming in Canada will work closely Racing to Zero over the next 10 months on a multi-phase project to lay the foundation for meaningful and lasting climate action.

The project will include various elements, including developing a dedicated sustainability strategy and support in the implementation of a variety of key priority actions related to internal operations, domestic events, and international competitions.

This project marks a momentous occasion for one of Canada’s largest National Sport Organizations (NSOs), and follows the launch of World Aquatics’ sustainability strategy, “The Blueprint”, last July.

“Swimming Canada is committed to developing our own Sustainability Framework and Strategy, and look forward to working with Racing To Zero” says Swimming Canada CEO, Suzanne Paulins. “We appreciate the support from the Canadian Olympic Committee, through their Enhancement Grants to engage and deliver on this important work”.

Swimming Canada now joins a handful of other Canadian NSOs who have taken their first steps towards sustainability, including Cycling Canada, Canada Artistic Swimming, and Freestyle Canada.
