Canadian Olympic Committee and Racing to Zero announce five NSOs selected to 2026 NSO Sustainability Program

The Canadian Olympic Committee and Racing to Zero have launched the second edition of the NSO Sustainability Program, an initiative designed to help advance Canadian National Sport Organizations (NSOs) along their journey towards sustainability.

Building on the success of last year’s program, and with continued support from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Solidarity Program, five new NSOs will work closely with Racing to Zero from September 2026 to March 2027 to advance their sustainability initiatives. The NSOs selected are:

  • Athletics Canada
  • Alpine Canada Alpin
  • Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton
  • Nordiq Canada
  • Squash Canada

The outcomes of the program will leave each NSO with a tailored sustainability strategy to guide long-term impact, an emissions baseline to establish clear reduction targets, and an educational workshop to socialize the work being done.

“It is fantastic to see the continuation of this program, demonstrating both the success of last year and the desire to do more” says Oliver Scholfield, Executive Director of Racing to Zero. “We are grateful for the support from the IOC and COC, and are even more excited that we are able to expand the program from three NSOs last year to five this year, showing the growing desire and need for this type of work”.

The 2025 edition of the program saw Racing to Zero work with Canada Artistic Swimming, Cycling Canada, and Freestyle Canada.
